Our Story

Dr. Avinash Kumar

The idea behind the formation of the group Shabla Seva Sansthan was that the cultivation of medicinal plants (herbs) and traditional crops along with the other crops would increase the economic status of farmers and this would also promote sustainable natural and agnihotra/vaidic farming. Care for the sustainability of farmers and the environment are at the core of our business philosophy.

Our story began when Dr. Avinash Kumar (Panchgavya) of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, left his reputed government job to invest his career in the field of natural farming in order to improve the life of farmers with the help of his organization Shabla Seva Sansthan. He soon realized that natural and vedic farming was more profitable than conventional farming as the cost of farming was low, and so was the water consumption. Moreover, natural farming has a large number of environmental advantages and increased the yields of farmers. Having deep care for the environment, Dr. Avinash Kumar has always followed the below-given motto:

 पेड़ लगाएं। पानी बचाएं। जीवन में खुशहाली लाएं।

According to Dr. Avinash Kumar (Panchgavya), in other types of crop farming, the farmers do not earn more than Rs 30,000 per acre. But in natural and agnihotra/vaidic farming, they can earn up to Rs 80,000 per acre. Natural and agnihotra/vaidic farming is also sustainable as it keeps the farms fertile for a long time. Therefore, benefitting both the farmer and the environment. Initially, he started the cultivation of herbs to save the forests and preserve the medicinal plants. In present day, the organization is growing a number of medicinal plants across the country.

In 3 years, he not only made profits but also educated other farmers about the benefits of natural and agnihotra/vaidic farming. Today, Shabla Seva Sansthan supports more than 4000 farmers from all over India including the states of Uttar Pradesh (Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Maharajpur, Hamirpur and Rae Bareli), Bihar (West Champaran, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Begusarai, Munger and Madhubani), Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh and produces various medicinal plants (herbs) such as Brahmi, Madukparni, Vach, Tulsi, Kalamegh, white/black Kaunch beej, Bhui Amla, Kuth, Kutki and Kapoor Kachri.

Shabla Seva Sansthan produces herbs on more than 800 acres of agricultural land. The production of 400 quintals of Basil and more than 150 quintals of white/black Kaunch beej and other crops indicates that the organization is heading in the right direction and is working relentlessly for the farmers’ community.
